–– The Artist
"John Diamond-Nigh was born in 1953 in Canada. He studied Humanities and Art History at Bennington College and Penn
State and has graduate degrees in those disciplines and in Creative Writing. His studio is in Buffalo where he lives with his wife.
"With the materials I use––gold, wood, paper and light––I try to spin the modern and archaic (both deep thrills for me) into idioms of contemporary taste. Maybe I am trying now to go beyond old and new into something essentially psychological––the mystery of emotion. I care deeply about space and hope my work plays its woodwind part in any larger spatial ensemble. Nothing beats a meaningful, beautiful home."
John's work has been exhibited in many prominent places including the Philadelphia and Denver Museums of Art just to name two. He has been an artist-in-residence at Alfred University (twice), and was featured in The New York Times. He has published three books of poetry and short fiction and has won prominent awards for his interior design.
"In the end, any syllabus of achievment should be implicit in my work."
